Interesting Facts About The Build
Creative and Technical Director John Kerr, in his 31st year with the project, brings his artistic vision to life this year with ‘An Irwin’s Christmas Story.’ Working alongside Stage ONE Productions, Kerr ensures a spectacular and immersive experience, with his meticulous attention to detail honouring the Irwin family’s passion for wildlife and their legacy of conservation.
The Irwin Christmas Story Build includes:
• Over 12 months of careful planning for the 6-window storyboard.
• 50 animated actions, bringing each scene to life with dynamic interactions.
• A diverse wildlife collection featuring 30 distinct animal figures. These include leaping lemurs, grazing giraffes and playful tiger cubs.
• Detailed lifelike figures of Terri, Robert, and Bindi Irwin, crafted with incredible authenticity.
• A poetic narration by Ace, a wedge-tailed eagle, incorporating the voices of Robert and Bindi Irwin.
• Custom-built animatronics designed to mimic the natural movements of the animals, enhancing visitor engagement.
• Scenic elements and props created to reflect the beauty of Australia Zoo’s environment.

Myer Mural Hall
Myer Mural Hall is recognised as one of Australia’s most famous Art Deco interiors. Restored to how it originally stood in 1935, it is a rare and surviving example of Streamline Moderne, sitting high on the sixth floor of Myer Melbourne City Store.
The grand formal dining room was designed by Sidney Myer himself and was known to host the most glamorous parties and fashion events.
The walls are adorned with ten large-scale murals painted by iconic Victorian artist Napier Waller. Each piece is a tribute to influential women, celebrating their achievements throughout history in arts, opera, literature and fashion.
Excitingly, this year Mural Hall will play host to a very special activation from our Christmas Windows partner. Stay tuned for more!
